A total of 31 participants, composed of 15 deck cadet applicants and 16 engine cadet applicants, took part in the comprehensive evaluation process held at Davao Merchant Marine Academy College of Southern Philippines, Davao City. The program began with an orientation at 8:30 AM, followed by simultaneous CES and APRO exams for deck cadets and technical and psychological interviews for engine cadets. In the afternoon,
the roles were reversed, ensuring that both groups underwent a thorough assessment of their competencies and readiness for cadetship. Representing the DSC were key personnel including Capt. Eduardo M. Limpin (DSC President), Mr. Rowell Beluso (DSC Senior Manager), and DSC Staffs. They were joined by experienced seafarers from various cadetship batches from ’07, ’19 and ’20
The cadetship selection program is designed to bridge academic learning with real-world maritime experience. Its core purpose is to equip young and aspiring seafarers with the technical knowledge, practical skills, discipline, and professional mindset necessary to serve onboard vessels. Through a structured training path that includes onboard apprenticeship, examinations, and interviews, cadets are groomed to become competent deck or engine officers.
